Faith, Family, and a Future: Bibihana’s Story of Hope in Bassodawish

In the small village of Bassodawish, 32-year-old Bibihana is building a better life for her family, one rooted in hard work, faith, and the simple gift of goats. Together with her husband Leonard, she is raising three children, each with dreams as bright as their mother’s determination.

Her oldest child is sixteen, her youngest just eighteen months old, and her middle son, currently in Standard 3 is living with a physical disability. Yet his spirit is strong: he attends a boarding school for children with disabilities and dreams of becoming a doctor one day. To make sure he can stay in school, Bibihana and Leonard take on casual labor jobs, working tirelessly to pay the annual 200,000 Tanzanian shillings in school fees.

When Bibihana heard about Food for His Children, she saw an opportunity not just for income, but for renewal. She joined with the hope of receiving goats, believing they could provide both milk for her family and a future source of income for education and household needs.

“Goats can change your life,” she says. "They help us in faith, in food, and in our future.”

Her faith has deepened through her connection with FFHC. The Faith Assistants regularly visit her home for devotions and Scripture sharing, and through these visits, Bibihana received her very own Bible. She says that before joining FFHC, she often lost hope, but now she feels encouraged and strengthened by God’s Word. Leonard, her husband, often reads Psalm 121, finding comfort in the verse that says, “My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”

So far, Bibihana has received two goats—and is excited to soon receive her third. She has carefully prepared for them, storing three months’ worth of goat feed and planting a kitchen garden to improve her family’s nutrition. Her one acre farm has already yielded pigeon peas and maize, providing nearly a year’s supply of food for her household.

FFHC staff describe her as an achiever, a woman who turns every opportunity into progress. Her commitment to learning, working, and caring for her family shines brightly, even in challenging times.
