Blessings in Abundance: Safina’s Journey of Faith and Growth in Kilimamoja
In the heart of Kilimamoja, Safina Isaya Marcelia, often called Anicia is living proof of how faith, determination, and community support can transform lives. When she joined Food for His Children (FFHC), she was hoping for a small start. Today, she’s watching her blessings multiply in every direction.
Safina lives with her brother and three children: Yoshua (18), Elisha (14), and Elizabeth (11), alongside her father Daniel Isaya, 58, who helps on the farm and sometimes does casual labor. Together, they work hard to sustain their family on their 3.5 acre farm, growing maize and pigeon peas. This year, delayed rains meant they harvested only eight bags of maize, typical for one acre instead of three. Yet even in a difficult season, Safina’s hope hasn’t wavered.
When she joined FFHC, she quickly showed her commitment to growth. She completed her goat shed in just two weeks, and by September 2025, received three goats. Since then, her small farmyard has flourished, she now has seven rabbits that she breeds and sells for 10,000–15,000 Tsh each, and eight chickens with several chicks.
Her vision continues to grow: Safina dreams of expanding to 30 goats, selling goat milk, and building a kitchen garden once she installs a water tap on her property. She’s already saving toward that goal through her local savings group, hoping to afford the tap by the end of the season. Until then, she pays for water deliveries, costing between 300,000 and 400,000 Tsh—but she’s confident God will make a way.
When her son had the chance to go to boarding school, Safina made a family decision that reflected both wisdom and patience. They agreed to wait one year so that she could use the extra money to build her goat shed and start her new project. That decision has since borne fruit, bringing more stability and joy to their lives.
Safina’s home now meets many of FFHC’s “17 Points” for a Healthy Home, including a strong shed, clean house without leaks, latrine, clothesline, outdoor cooking area, and savings habits. Her faith is the foundation of everything she does. She often prays over her goats, asking God to “multiply them where they go” and to bless all who work alongside her.
“When I joined FFHC, there was only a house here,” Safina says. “Now there are goats, chickens, and rabbits. God has opened doors and surrounded me with family in this project.” Safina’s story is one of joyful perseverance. She hopes to continue growing her small businesses, care for her animals, and one day sell enough milk and livestock to pay for her children’s education. Above all, she prays for God’s continued protection over her home, her animals, and her future.
